<p><span style="color: rgb(186, 55, 42); font-weight: bold"><span style="font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px">SUMMARY</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt">The Senior Project Surveyor (SME) is a senior technical specialist responsible for delivering high-level boundary analysis, advanced computations, mapping tasks, and complex survey deliverables. This role focuses on deep technical expertise rather than staff management, serving as an internal subject-matter expert for complex or high-risk surveying assignments. The Senior Project Surveyor supports multiple project teams by performing advanced COGO computations, preparing survey documents, resolving boundary issues, and ensuring technical accuracy. This position plays a critical role in elevating the technical quality and consistency of Survey/Mapping deliverables across the firm.</span></p> <p><br></p> <p><span style="color: rgb(186, 55, 42); font-weight: bold">RESPONSIBILITIES</span></p> <p>Project Management</p> <ul> <li>Perform and verify complex boundary analyses using relevant legal principles, statutes, and case law.</li> <li>Prepare high-accuracy survey deliverables, including: <ul> <li>ALTA/NSPS surveys</li> <li>Records of Survey</li> <li>Boundary and topographic surveys</li> <li>Short and long plats, subdivision maps, and lot line adjustments</li> <li>Easement exhibits and legal descriptions</li> </ul> </li> <li>Process and adjust GPS and conventional survey data; perform least-squares adjustments as needed.</li> <li>Conduct advanced COGO calculations, coordinate geometry evaluation, and geodetic analyses.</li> <li>Apply coordinate transformations, rotations, and translations across datasets.</li> <li>Analyze field data, sketches, and digital records for completeness and accuracy.</li> </ul> <p>Technical</p> <ul> <li>Prepare drawings, mapping files, and supporting survey documents in collaboration with drafting staff.</li> <li>Review deliverables prepared by Survey Technicians for accuracy and completeness.</li> <li>Maintain high standards for data integrity, record documentation, and file management.</li> <li>Provide technical input to improve internal standards, procedures, and workflows.</li> <li>Serve as an internal technical resource for boundary resolution, geodetic analysis, and mapping standards.</li> <li>Provide guidance and informal mentorship to Survey Technicians and early-career survey staff.</li> <li>Participate in internal training, knowledge-sharing, and process improvement initiatives.</li> <li>Support the Senior Land Survey Manager and PLS staff by contributing to QA/QC practices.</li> </ul> <p>Coordination & Communication</p> <ul> <li>Respond to technical inquiries from clients and agencies when requested by project leadership.</li> <li>Assist project teams with research into public records, deeds, dedication documents, vacation filings, and right-of-way information.</li> <li>Provide technical explanations or supporting documentation as needed for client deliverables.</li> <li>Other duties as assigned</li> </ul> <p><br></p> <p>Experience + Education</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent years of experience in Land Surveying</li> <li>8-10+ years’ relevant survey experience</li> <li>Professional Land Surveyor License (LS),preferred</li> <li>Project Management experience, preferred</li> <li>General knowledge of computers, Microsoft office, Adobe, Internet, Bluebeam, etc.</li> <li>Proficient experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, required.</li> <li>Effective and professional communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.</li> </ul> <p><br></p> <p><span style="color: rgb(186, 55, 42)"><span style="font-weight: bold">Why Kier + Wright?</span> </span></p> <ul> <li>Great culture – Team Collaboration, Innovative problem solving, Responsive to clients, Passionate about work</li> <li>Competitive Pay <span>($104,000 - $150,000 DOE, location, + work model i.e., remote, hybrid or in-office)</span></li> <li>Medical, Dental and Vision 100% paid for by Kier & Wright for you + family</li> <li>401(k) and Profit Sharing</li> <li>Paid Holidays</li> <li>Generous PTO </li> <li>Free office snacks</li> <li>Much more!</li> </ul> <p><br></p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold">Who we are</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 15px">Since 1972, Kier + Wright has provided both private and public sector clients with engineering and surveying work that is efficient, cost-effective and forward-thinking.
