<p><strong>This posting is for the purpose of Transfer List Placement – Current city of Las Vegas Employees who meet the transfer requirements below:</strong></p><p><strong>Appointive and Classified Transfer Requirements:</strong>  Eligible to apply for transfer opportunities within the same classification in a different department OR a classification previously held if the classification is the same or a lower grade than current classification and employee achieved regular status (i.e. passed probation or qualifying period for classified).<br><br>Performs semi-skilled work in construction, maintenance and related service activities.</p><p><u><strong>Supervision Received</strong></u></p><p>Receives general supervision from higher level staff.</p><p><u><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></u></p><ol><li>Performs general semi-skilled maintenance of city property, such as cleaning and maintaining roads, alleyways, streets, sanitary sewers, parks, city-owned open spaces, single family properties, cemetery and playground equipment; assists other staff in construction and maintenance work; loads and unload tools, materials and supplies.<li>Assists in construction and repair of concrete bridges throughout the city.<li>Operates pneumatic and hand tools; may operate light equipment; cleans and maintains equipment.<li>Sets up and takes down traffic warning devices and barricades for traffic control as directed.<li>May spray herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers under the direction of a licensed applicator.<li>Mix materials to be used on job assigned.<li>Identifies major repairs needed and reports to higher level staff.<li>May maintain inventory of equipment, materials and supplies.<li>Maintains a variety of automated and manual records, logs and files.</ol><p><u><strong>When Assigned to Rapid Response Team</strong></u></p><ol><li>Cleans street medians, public rights-of-way and other city property, including removing items such as illegal signs, graffiti, trash, debris, vegetation, vagrant camps, fences, shopping carts, basketball hoops, junk vehicles and abandoned appliances.<li>Drains stagnant swimming pools on vacant private property to reduce public health and safety risks.</ol><p><u><strong>Marginal Functions:</strong></u></p><ol><li>Performs basic repairs to drip and pop-up irrigation systems.<li>Responds to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provides information within the area of assignment.<li>Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.</ol><p><u><strong>Experience:</strong></u></p><p>One year of experience performing field maintenance work within the assigned area of work is desirable.</p><p><u><strong>Training:</strong></u></p><p>Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.<br><br><u><strong>Licenses and Certifications:</strong></u></p><p>Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license on the date of application, and maintenance thereafter.</p><p><strong><u>Condition of continued employment:</u></strong> Within 15 days of initial hire, provide documentation of completion within the last five years of an OSHA-10 course in construction industry safety and health hazard recognition and prevention, developed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor. Completion card must be continuously maintained while employed in this classification.</p><p><strong><u>When assigned to pool maintenance:</u></strong> Possession of a Swimming Pool Service Technician or Pool Operator certification from the Southern Nevada Health District on the date of application, and maintenance thereafter.</p><p><u><strong>Special Requirement:</strong></u></p><p>May be required to respond to emergencies during non-working hours.</p><p style="text-align: left;"><u><strong>Knowledge of:</strong></u></p><p style="text-align: left;">Methods and techniques of general construction, maintenance and repair related to the area of work assigned.<br>Equipment and tools used in the area of work assigned.<br>Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.</p><p style="text-align: left;"><u><strong>Skills in:</strong></u></p><p style="text-align: left;">Performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance, construction and repair work in the area of work assigned.<br>Operating a variety of vehicular and stationary mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner.<br>Performing a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time and in unfavorable weather conditions.<br>Performing heavy manual labor.<br>Understanding and following oral and written instructions.<br>Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.<br>Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.<br><br><strong><u>Competencies:</u></strong></p><p><u>Core Workforce Competencies</u></p><p>Professionalism – Demonstrates core values by being honest, respectful and positive.</p><p>Effective Communication – Expresses verbal and written thought in a clear and understandable manner.</p><p>Customer Focus – Demonstrates genuine concern and satisfies external and/or internal customers based on the CLV core purpose and values.</p><p>Adaptability – Able to effectively modify behavior to suit changing workforce demands.</p><p>Problem Solving – Solves problems by considering all causes, solutions and outcomes.</p><p>Productive Partnerships – Develops, maintains and strengthens partnerships with others.</p><p>Technical and Safety Expertise – Possesses a depth of knowledge, skill and ability in a technical (job) area.</p>
