About the position

Responsibilities

  • Executing network modeling to support initiatives such as the location of new fulfillment nodes, the automation of existing distribution centers, flow-path alignment, and the optimization of end-to-end supply chain costs
  • Supporting the development of supply chain network design strategies that align with business objectives and maximize operational efficiency
  • Performing analysis of key data to identify opportunities for optimizing the end-to-end supply chain network
  • Performing scenario analyses to address various what-if situations as well as sensitivity analyses on key supply chain factors including demand, transportation costs, labor costs, and facility costs
  • Initiating and driving network optimization projects from opportunity identification through scoping and model development and business case development
  • Developing network strategy recommendations including the optimal use of current assets, investments in new technology, expansion of capacity, evaluation of alternative fulfillment models (i.e. 3PL, drop-ship) etc.
  • Supporting the supply chain project & capability road-map by evaluating planned ROI and ideating projects that will drive results to Ulta's bottom line
  • Analyzing supply chain and network data leveraging enterprise databases and other data sources (SQL experience required)
  • Partnering with internal Business Intelligence resources to obtain required data elements and develop repeatable processes for data acquisition and refreshes
  • Interfacing with multiple internal and external departments including Distribution, Transportation, Merchandise Planning, Marketing/eCommerce, Stores, and Finance to gather assumptions and to share network optimization results

Requirements

  • 3+ years of work experience in supply chain network design, data engineering, and advanced analytics or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), presentation, and analytical skills with a solid understanding of the financials of each segment of the supply chain
  • Ability to develop presentation materials to highlight Network Optimization results, and the business opportunities and value derived from the modeling efforts
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Enthusiastic, persistent, action-oriented, and a strong sense of accountability
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work, and operate independently
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, knowledge/experience setting up databases)
  • Experience with visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience with supply chain network design software (e.g., AIMMS, LLamasoft/Coupa Supply Chain Guru, or similar) strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of supply chain sales & operational planning, distribution center operations, and transportation in a retail environment
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) BigQuery
  • Programming experience in Python or R
  • Working knowledge of MySQL databases
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems and/or Order Management Systems
