Let your career take flight by joining our diverse and vibrant team at the leading edge of passenger aviation.<br><br></strong>We are seeking a <strong>Software Developer Automation Tester</strong> to help accelerate the adoption of intelligent automation testing across Air Canada’s IT, Data, and Digital teams. This role is responsible for <strong>integrating automation solutions and frameworks provided by the Air Canada’s Quality Management Office (QMO) </strong>into delivery pipelines, <strong>executing QA processes</strong>, and <strong>providing leadership and mentorship to delivery pods</strong> on all aspects of quality assurance.<br><br>The<strong> Software Developer Automation Tester</strong> will <strong>report to a QA Manager within Air Canada’s Quality Management Office</strong>, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide quality standards and governance.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Integrate automation frameworks and tools developed by the Air Canada QMO & COE into project delivery teams and pipelines.</li><li>Execute and enforce QA processes within delivery pods, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and best practices.</li><li>Act as the QA SME within delivery pods, overseeing test planning, execution, defect management, and reporting.</li><li>Customize and extend COE-provided automation solutions to meet specific application and platform needs.</li><li>Collaborate with developers, test teams, and DevOps teams to embed automation into the software development lifecycle.</li><li>Promote shift-left testing practices and early defect detection.</li><li>Provide mentorship and guidance to delivery pods on QA strategy, automation usage, testing techniques, and quality metrics.</li><li>Support CI/CD integration and continuous testing using enterprise-standard tools.</li><li>Establish and monitor KPIs to measure automation adoption, test coverage, defect leakage, and overall quality effectiveness.</li><li>Ensure compliance with internal QA governance, security & IT policies, and external regulatory standards.</li><li>Ensure accessibility test coverage is included in QA plans and automation suites, in alignment with WCAG and Air Canada’s accessibility standards.</li><li>Collaborate with accessibility specialists and developers to validate inclusive design and usability.</li><li>Facilitate training sessions and workshops to build automation and QA capabilities across IT.</li><li>Support test data management and environment setup for automated and manual test execution.</li><li>Analyze test results and provide actionable insights to improve product quality and delivery confidence.</li><li>Act as a liaison between delivery teams and the QMO to ensure feedback loops and continuous improvement.</li><li>Participate in release readiness reviews and provide go/no-go recommendations based on quality metrics and risk assessments.</li><li>Provide regular updates and reporting to the QA Manager of the Quality Management Office on QA health, risks, accessibility coverage, and improvement opportunities.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Technical Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li>Enterprise QA Platforms:</li><ul><li>Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Xray, ACATS (Air Canada Test Automation System), and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).</li></ul><li>Automation Frameworks:</li><ul><li>Hands-on expertise in Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, and Gherkin-based BDD frameworks. Familiarity with Cursor IDE or similar AI-assisted automation tools.</li></ul><li>Cloud Platforms:</li><ul><li>Proficiency in AWS and Azure cloud services, including Bedrock, OpenSearch, and VPC isolation. Experience with managed cloud services for scalability, security, and compliance.</li></ul><li>Cross-Platform Testing:</li><ul><li>Ability to automate and execute tests across web, mobile, desktop, SAP, IVR, and API platforms. Use of BrowserStack or similar cloud execution platforms.</li></ul><li>Accessibility & UX Testing:</li><ul><li>Use of accessibility testing tools & tools (axe-core, Lighthouse, Jaws, WAVE) and ensuring coverage for WCAG and Air Canada accessibility standards.</li></ul><li>Non-Functional Testing:</li><ul><li>Experience in performance testing (JMeter, Gatling), security and vulnerability analysis, network simulation, and service virtualization. Diagnostics and monitoring using real-time logs and metrics.</li></ul><li>Test Data Management & Data Quality: Experience</li><ul><li>Experience with test data management (TDM), data masking, anonymization, and compliance (GDPR, PCI). Integration with Delphix or similar TDM platforms.</li></ul><li>AI & Agentic Frameworks: Familiarity</li><ul><li>Familiarity with AI-driven test case generation, defect management, root cause analysis, and self-healing automation.
