This role supports portfolio companies by ensuring their books are complete, reconciled, and ready for internal, investor, and external reporting. This role is structured and clearly scoped, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and follow through.</p><p><br></p><p>----------</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>ROLE OVERVIEW</u></strong></p><p><br></p><p>We are looking for a full time Senior Bookkeeper, Portfolio Accounting to handle day to day bookkeeping, month end close, and financial reporting for PE Gate and its portfolio companies.</p><p><br></p><p>This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured accounting work, managing multiple entities, and maintaining clean, reliable financials. The role does not involve operational management or general business decision making.</p><p><br></p><p>This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 1 in person day per week based out of Markham, Ontario. Additional in person days may be required for accounting related needs such as onboarding new entities or coordinating with external accountants. A personal vehicle is required for travel to portfolio company locations when necessary.</p><p><br></p><p>----------</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>WHY JOIN PE GATE?</u></strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Stable, full time accounting role with a clearly defined scope.</li><li>Exposure to portfolio accounting across multiple small businesses.</li><li>Opportunity to work in a private equity environment without client facing pressure.</li><li>Competitive salary range of $55,000 to $65,000 CAD, based on experience.</li><li>Competitive compensation.</li><li>Health benefits.</li><li>Car allowance for work related travel.</li><li>Hybrid work structure with flexibility.</li><li>Professional environment that values accuracy, reliability, and consistency.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>----------</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</u></strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Accounting and Bookkeeping</strong></p><ul><li>Maintain accurate bookkeeping for multiple portfolio companies using QuickBooks Online.</li><li>Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.</li><li>Complete bank and credit card reconciliations.</li><li>Process payroll and complete payroll reconciliations and remittances.</li><li>Post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.</li><li>Support moderate to high transaction volume businesses, including service based companies with approximately 300 or more transactions per month.</li><li>Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Financial Reporting and Analysis</strong></p><ul><li>Prepare monthly financial statements including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow.</li><li>Ensure financials are complete, reconciled, and internally consistent prior to reporting.</li><li>Prepare PowerPoint presentations for key decision makers as part of the monthly PnL review process.</li><li>Create clear charts and financial visuals to summarize performance, trends, and variances.</li><li>Use Excel to extract, analyze, and manipulate financial data to support reporting.</li><li>Build ad hoc queries and analyses to help decision makers make data driven decisions.</li><li>Support multi entity or consolidated reporting where required.</li><li>Prepare supporting schedules and working papers for internal and external use.</li><li>Assist with year end accounting processes and coordination with external accountants.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Systems and Process Support</strong></p><ul><li>Maintain consistency in charts of accounts and bookkeeping practices.</li><li>Support onboarding of new entities into QuickBooks Online.</li><li>Identify bookkeeping issues or discrepancies and resolve them.</li><li>Improve reporting templates and processes where appropriate.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>----------</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS</u></strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Minimum 15 years of hands on accounting or bookkeeping experience.</li><li>Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online.</li><li>Experience completing month end close and preparing financial statements.</li><li>Comfortable using Excel for reconciliations, analysis, and reporting.</li><li>Comfortable creating charts and summaries for management reporting.</li><li>Experience handling multiple entities simultaneously.</li><li>Ability to manage moderate to high transaction volumes accurately.</li><li>Highly organized with strong attention to detail.</li><li>Comfortable working independently with defined responsibilities.</li><li>Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>----------</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>NICE TO HAVE</u></strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Experience with service based or retail businesses.</li><li>Experience with multi entity or consolidated reporting.</li><li>Experience supporting private equity or investment backed businesses.</li><li>Experience preparing management or investor reporting packages.</li><li>CPA designation not required.
