One must travel multiple sites as needed and live within the assigned region or a bordering state of the physical location.<br><br>The Routing Optimization Manager is Remote Region Based, which means one must travel to multiple sites as needed and live within an assigned Region.<br><br><b>RESPONSIBILITIES </b><br>• Sets direction, implements and maintains ongoing routing excellence and KPI performance improvements across markets<br>• Drive KPI attainment and improvements by contributing to and executing process improvement plans and Operations Excellence plays designed to maximize performance, delight the customer, improve on-time delivery, and minimize costs<br>• Work closely with Regional VP Operations to determine priority of market support and set action plans to drive improvement<br>• Partner with cross-functional teams, particularly sales, to improve routing performance, including on-time delivery and cost<br>• Ensure Market Sales Routing Routine is productive and sets strategy based on business needs and market conditions<br>• Document the execution and performance of routing-related business processes, procedures and related narratives, including workflows<br>• Support nightly routing activities and assist in the resolution and communication of any problems resulting in a stoppage of work to the warehouse<br>• Enable a continuous improvement culture within Routing by actively engaging in and contributing to the development and deployment of initiatives<br>• Inspire the team through transparency and open dialog, modeling The US Foods Way<br>• Set performance expectations for the field that drive sustainable, predictable results<br>• Support play communication and execution, related field associate training, and quarterly reviews of key focus areas, strategies and pressing topics<br>• Work with the Director Routing Optimization to escalate questions around new play certification and execution, to clarify alignment with ongoing routing initiatives, strategies and business objectives<br>• Contribute to policies, processes and performance metrics designed to track the implementation and impact of routing improvement initiatives, including the documentation and escalation of field feedback on plays and play deployment<br>• Contribute to the routing scorecard, tracking metrics designed to ensure routing risks and issues are identified and remediated, to meet routing and other business objectives<br>• Rebuild routing strategy at a market level when changes in the business dictate a need using route planning tools and software<br>• Maintain network optimization strategy as new national accounts are vetted and onboarded into existing division footprints to ensure ability to execute deliveries to customers satisfaction at lowest operational cost using Maptitude and other mapping tools<br>• Create and execute Market contingency plans with area and corporate leaders along with other stakeholders in a timely manner<br>• Coach and develop Routing Associates<br>o Build, develop and maintain a team of high-performing routers, actively managing and supporting their day-to-day performance and career progression<br>o Create increasing depth and acumen within the team across functional domains<br>o Other duties as assigned by the Director Routing Optimization<br><br><b>SUPERVISION:</b><br>• No direct reports<br><br><b>RELATIONSHIPS:</b><br><br><b>Internal:</b><br>• Transportation Safety, Supply Chain, Program Office, Operations Excellence, Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, IT, I&A, Merchandising and Field Operations leaders; Activation Team leads; regional, area and market field leaders; local and national sales leaders; Human Resources business partners<br><br><b>External:</b><br>• Professional networks, industry organizations and/or consultants focused on routing and transportation optimization and leading practices<br>• Customers and outside vendors<br><br><b>QUALIFICATIONS<br><br>Education/Training:</b><br>• Bachelor's degree in business, transportation and logistics, operations management, supply chain management, or other equivalent experience<br><br><b>Related Experience/Requirements:</b><br>• 7+ years of business management experience, with a focus on strategy implementation; experience working within a transportation environment highly valued; food industry experience a plus; routing experience preferred<br>• People management experience, including team building and performance management<br>• Familiar with transportation and routing leading practices and related performance metrics<br>• Strong communication skills and experience influencing peers and senior leaders<br>• Competency identifying/establishing, implementing and sharing operational best practices<br>• Experience leading projects that required coordination across team boundaries in large, multi-function, cross-geographic, matrixed organizations<br><br><b>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: </b><br>• Industry knowledge: Working knowledge of distribution operations, including routing and/or transportation, and of related federal, state and local regulations - preferably in the foodservice or transportation industry<br>• Project Management: Strong project management skills and knowledge of program management principles, methodology and tools; able to plan and lead project implementations with a sense of urgency and in the context of broader program initiatives, including scheduling, resources, scope, budget, risks/issues, communication and reporting<br>• Team Building: Experience building and developing high-performing teams, actively managing and supporting their performance and career growth<br>• Coaching/Mentoring: Develops and inspires team member mindsets and capabilities<br>• Openness to New Ideas: Demonstrates the ability and willingness to move outside of their comfort zone to explore new options/approaches;
