Responsibilities

As a Remote Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in managing patient flow and administrative tasks, ensuring seamless virtual healthcare delivery. Your duties will include:

  • Patient Communication: Handling inbound and outbound patient calls, emails, and secure portal messages in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Scheduling and confirming patient appointments, managing provider calendars, and coordinating referrals to specialists or external facilities.
  • Documentation & EHR Management: Accurately documenting patient information, vital signs (as reported by the patient), and provider instructions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Administrative Support: Processing prior authorizations, managing prescription refill requests following provider approval, and preparing necessary forms.
  • Telehealth Support: Troubleshooting basic technical issues related to telehealth appointments (e.g., connection difficulties) and ensuring patients are ready for their virtual visit.
  • Billing Support: Assisting with basic insurance verification and relaying billing-related questions to the appropriate department.
  • Compliance: Adhering strictly to all HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

Required

  • Citizenship: Must be a United States Citizen (required for this remote position).
  • Technology: Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection, a quiet and private workspace, and proficiency with basic computer applications.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional and compassionate telephone manner.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred (But not required for entry level)

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent training.
