What Will You Be Doing?

The Manager, Maintenance Planning has overall responsibility for the efficient planning of RON (Remain Overnight) Maintenance, Line Maintenance, and SMV (Special Maintenance Visits) to include engine changes, seat modifications, and any other maintenance event as directed by Maintenance & Engineering department leadership. The Manager, Maintenance Planning, reviews, develops, and modifies (as required), both long-term and short-term forecasted aircraft planning and maintenance schedules using a sliding window basis considering the following: availability of staffing, required tooling, equipment, parts and materials, skillset, and hours necessary to complete the assigned task. Must clearly and efficiently communicate and coordinate as required with the following groups: Line Maintenance, Heavy Maintenance, Inspection, Engineering, Materials, and Purchasing regarding the planning and assigning of maintenance tasks. Effectively communicate with the Manager, SOC (System Operations Control) regarding the timely routing of aircraft to facilitate the accomplishment of planned/assigned maintenance events.

Essential Functions

  • Evaluate and modify, as required, all existing planned maintenance events to be accomplished by both Frontier Airlines' maintenance personnel and/or approved maintenance providers. This includes 60-day, 30-day, 10-day, 3-day, and current planning requirements for all routine and non-routine tasks using the Maintenance Due Report.
  • Manage a planning team to ensure clear responsibilities are in place, that each team member understands. Implement daily and long-term goals for the team and ensure effective communication through calls and stand-up meetings to coordinate activities.
  • Oversee and manage the assignment of all Minimum Equipment List (MEL) items as communicated by the MEL Coordination team.
  • Oversee and review plans of all ODM (Other Deferred Maintenance) items for required manpower, parts, facilities, and tooling.
  • Coordinate with Material Services and AOG (Aircraft On Ground) to ensure that required parts arrive in time to complete scheduled or unscheduled maintenance.
  • Ensure proper coordination with Material Services' tool room to ensure required tooling is available on-station to comply with scheduled or unscheduled maintenance.
  • Oversee and manage the plan and coordinate the sequencing and allocation of daily workload for efficient use of labor, skill level, and facilities.
  • Oversee and evaluate the long-term plan for A-Checks, required engine work, and other special allocations for sequencing and optimization.
  • Administer and manage all departmental self-audits.
  • Effectively manage the aircraft mean hours and cycles in the Frontier Maintenance Information System (FMIS) for accurate forecasting of scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with budget preparations for Line Planning department.
  • Help set-up, audit, and maintain the online maintenance planning system in the FMIS to include training, technical knowledge, and practical instruction for Maintenance Planning.
  • Plan and schedule work compliance on all EOs (Engineering Order), EAs (Engineering Authorization) and FCDs (Fleet Campaign Directive) issued by Engineering.
  • Manage and maintain Planning department rosters and vacation schedules to ensure proper shift coverage is protected and maintained
  • Ensure that department personnel, including this position, are properly trained, qualified, and current to perform assigned tasks and in accordance with company manual requirements
  • Participate in continuous briefings of daily fleet-wide mechanical status to members of management
  • Facilitate communication between teams in the organization to efficiently problem solve collaboratively

Qualifications

  • FAA A&P license or equivalent aircraft maintenance experience required
  • Minimum 5 years of Heavy Maintenance and/or Line Maintenance or Planning experience
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience or demonstrated skills in this area
  • Bachelor's degree in aviation management, business administration or similar discipline preferred
  • Experience with maintenance planning software or software related to planning/scheduling maintenance


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to plan, organize and administrate workloads to direct reports
  • Working knowledge of airline maintenance operations and technical knowledge of aircraft and maintenance programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite, FMIS (TRAX or similar Mtce Information System), Sabre products or similar Operational Control System.
  • Capable of handling confidential material with discretion
  • Ability to foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration and mutual respect.
  • Must demonstrate behavior that portrays the company core values of Safety, Respect, Trust, Collaboration, Value, and Passion while communicating with personnel and acting on behalf of the company.
