What the role is:

Foreign Service Officers (FSOs) serve as Singapore’s diplomats to safeguard and protect our fellow countrymen and advance Singapore’s interests abroad. As an FSO, you must be prepared for a career that alternates between deployments to MFA HQ and to any of our over 50 embassies, high commissions and consulates around the world.

What you will be working on:

As an FSO (Functional & Corporate) in HQ, you will formulate, review and implement policies that impact MFA's vital operations in the core functions such as: Consular, Protocol, Human Resource, Corporate Affairs and Technical Cooperation. Overseas, you will manage a team to ensure the smooth functioning of the embassy, high commission or consulate. The work will encompass consular duties, human resource management, finance, procurement, facility maintenance, and office administration.

To meet the challenges of this role, you must have/be • Singaporean • A keen interest in international affairs • Versatile and adaptable to different environments • Strong analytical skills and conceptual abilities • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Strong ability to engage people at all levels • Good planning and organisation skills • Creative problem-solvers who are able to think of their feet • Open to relocation overseas You will be working in a fast-paced and highly volatile environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.
