Job Description

Elementary Teaching Applications

The TDSB invites applications from qualified candidates to apply for the current and upcoming 2025-2026 school year. Applicants are required to apply online using our electronic application process for consideration for our Elementary Teaching Eligible to Hire (ETH) list and Occasional Teaching opportunities.

All applicants must complete a new application for consideration in the 2025 recruitment process. New applications will be accepted starting on January 1, 2025. Only one application is accepted per person each calendar year.

Candidates interested in teaching in the Elementary French Programs, will be required to pass a French Fluency assessment. The assessment consists of two components: written and oral composition.

NOTE: To avoid any delays in processing your application, please ensure that the names you provide on your application match your names on the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) Registry.


To Apply

Your application must include the following documents:

  • Cover letter
  • Résumé (maximum two pages)
  • Copies of practice teaching reports (faculty students) OR teacher evaluation reports (experienced teachers)
  • Reference letters (optional)
  • Teaching References (must be supervisor references)

Once You Have Applied

  • All applications will remain active for a period of one calendar year.
  • Selection for interview is based on the applicant’s package in reference to the TDSB system needs for the school year.
  • Due to the high volume of candidates, only applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
  • Interviews will begin as early as February and continue throughout the calendar year

Qualifications

Candidates in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers are preferred. For those who do not have a teaching degree, in certain circumstances the Board may apply to the Ministry of Education for a Letter of Permission in order to meet its programming needs.
