We are looking for a remote full-time bookkeeper with a passion for technology and entrepreneurial environments, who wants to help start-up companies thrive during their growth journey. In this client serving role, you will work with exciting and innovative growth technology companies throughout Canada to deliver full cycle bookkeeping to ensure that your clients have the necessary financial information to aide their decision making.

Since we are a client serving, fully remote company, we’re looking for an individual who is organized, adaptable, enjoys collaborating and is comfortable working with different technologies designed to help you succeed in your role. You must also have good time management and problem-solving abilities with a positive attitude.


What will you do?

  • Full cycle bookkeeping for BrightIron clients in their accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero) on an accrual basis.
  • Maintain the general ledger for clients in their accounting software.
  • Process payroll for clients utilizing an external payroll provider.
  • Create monthly account reconciliations and continuities for all balance sheet accounts, and select P&L accounts, including variance explanations.
  • Prepare payroll and sales tax remittances for clients.
  • Develop and maintain internal financial processes and policies.
  • Work collaboratively and develop and maintain relationship with clients, and BrightIron team members.

Ideally, you have:

  • A minimum of three years of related experience as a bookkeeper or staff accountant.
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online and/or Xero.
  • Canadian payroll certification (PCP) preferred, but not required.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including fluency in English.
  • Highly organized and comfortable interacting with clients independently.
  • Positive attitude and high level of professionalism when working with clients.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Extremely detail oriented with a proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize workflow.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement, show initiative and be proactive.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
