Job Description

Are you passionate about writing and eager to dive into the world of online content creation? Automattic is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Beginner Blogger Assistant to join our fully distributed team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in content development, online publishing, and digital communication within a leading tech company. You will support our content teams in crafting engaging blog posts, articles, and other written materials, learning the ropes of professional blogging from the ground up. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from your home office in Victoria, British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in brainstorming and researching topics for blog posts and articles.
  • Draft, edit, and proofread blog content under supervision, ensuring clarity and grammatical accuracy.
  • Help optimize content for search engines (SEO basics will be taught).
  • Source and prepare appropriate images and multimedia for blog posts.
  • Schedule and publish content using our internal publishing tools (primarily WordPress).
  • Monitor comments and community engagement on blog posts.
  • Contribute to content calendar planning and execution.
  • Participate in team meetings and content strategy discussions.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • A strong passion for writing and digital content.
  • Basic familiarity with online platforms and social media.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow.
